Maintenance Back
Introduction :

MAPMC has sprawling acres of land, with all the buildings and open spaces therein as its property. The Mumbai APMC has to maintain and preserve this property. The maintenance department was formed to look after the overall maintenance of MAPMC estate. A Superintendent Engineer heads this department and is assisted by two Executive Engineers.

Process:

The maintenance department collects the budget details from market offices for any maintenance work. If the estimate is within five lakhs, then, the Superintendent Engineer approves it and forwards it to the accounts department for sanction. If the estimate is more than five lakhs, it is put before the Director of marketing for approval.

The Deputy Engineer of the respective market office prepares the estimate of work along with a note and forwards it to the Executive Engineer in the main office.

The Executive Engineer studies the estimate. If the estimate is more than five lakhs, it is re- estimated by the empanelled architects of MAPMC. Then it is forwarded to the Superintendent Engineer. After Superintendent Engineers gives permission, the proposal is submitted before the committee.

After committee approval, the proposal is forwarded to Director of Marketing for final approval. After receiving their approval, an open tender is published by MAPMC through this department. The comparative study of the bids is carried out. This is put in front of the committee again. After negotiation, the work order is issued to the specified agencies. The concerned market office is assigned supervision of work.

The maintenance department sends circulars, notices/reminder to market offices for payment of water bill, electricity bills, telephone bills etc

There are six guesthouses of MAPMC (two in Nerul and four in Vashi.); the maintenance of these comes under this department. Approval from NMMC and CIDCO is sought for any new construction work. This department also coordinates with outside agencies regarding civil work. Environmental subsection also comes under the maintenance department. This department looks after all the environmental aspects of MAPMC like maintaining trees, gardens, applying fertilizers, pesticides water supply, new plantation, etc.
